Fire Chief Recruitment

East County Fire and Rescue's fire chief is retiring at the end of 2024 after a 50-year fire service career, the last two of which have been as the fire chief with ECFR. The district is conducting a nation-wide recruitment for the position of fire chief. 

Qualified candidates should submit a letter of interest, resume, district application, and answers to supplemental questions via e-mail to dmacias@ecfr.us  or via mail to:

Letters of interest, applications, and answers to supplemental questions must be received by no later than 5 pm on  October 4, 2024.

Review of applications, responses to supplemental questions, and resumes will begin the second week of October. Candidates will be evaluated based on the qualifications outlined in the ECFR Fire Chief Classification Specification. Candidates who best meet the needs of the district may be invited to participate in a multi-phased selection process, that will include an informal opportunity to meet members of the organization and the East County Community and a series of panel interviews in early November.
